Our Story

Dumpster Values’ Herstory

I have been managing the space dumpster values is housed in for 23 years. We have been so lucky to have a community of musicians, artist, curators, environmentalist, organizers, printmakers, seamstresses, builders and writers that work and share space with us. Here is a list of some of the people we have had the privilege of collaborating with over the years, but it is by no means an exhaustive list, please get in touch if there is anything I missed, or could make better. You can email me at kanakopooknyw@protonmail.com

When I opened Dumpster Values in 1995 it was housed at 321 4th ave and in the location we shared space with:

Joseph Derouselle
Kenan Holmes
Sara McFarland
Tobias Koyama

Shortly after that we moved to 117 Washington St where the store was between 1996 and 2006.  I shared the building with the following people:

  1. looks like you specialize in vintage>? I have some to get rid of.

  2. I absolutely love this store. I’m wondering, how would one get a job here?
